I have a not quite similar story to tell: friends in a rental in West Perth, where the ceilings were, say, 4m high, managed to crack a lightbulb getting it out. Tallest friend on the top of tallest available ladder had been able to get to the glass of the light bulb, but not to the bit of metal still stuck (bayonet fitting). Which is why I then watched a friend remove the remnant section of the light bulb with the end of a broom handle.
