I'm glad you liked it -- and amused that I can't, without pulling the book off the shelf, remember what John Rokesmith's backstory actually *is*. (I think he was for some reason the lodger in disguise, but I don't remember what his motivation for that was, and couldn't immediately place the character name at all!)
