One of my most cherished memories of 'the Harry Potter experience' is of the wait between publication of the various books, and all the discussion and theories that took place during the wait. When the final book came out I rationed it to a chapter a day -- and didn't get my hands on it immediately, as I was borrowing the copy of someone else who was prepared to do the whole 'queue up at midnight and pay hardback prices' thing! -- and certainly wouldn't have wanted to swallow it all in one gulp.

I suppose they were worried about piracy, and people getting their hands on future episodes in advance anyway? The BBC has adopted the screening model of showing new series an episode at a time, but uploading all the episodes to their catch-up service at the same time as transmitting the first one, so that people can binge ahead if they want to -- I've never wanted to, and find it a bit annoying, since if I actually want to 'catch up' because I missed an episode on the big screen it becomes difficult to establish which the most recently broadcast episode actually was!

Dracula Daily looks very interesting, actually -- the episodic format gives you a chance to appreciate unnoticed details in the relatively short chunks, like the author's snide implications about the Englishman's sentimental attitude to animals, and the fact that Mina covered up her bare feet by coating them with with mud in order to avoid people staring at her in the street...
