I had pretty much convinced myself that a sequel to Knives Out could only be a disappointment. I'm very pleased to be wrong: Glass Onion is amazing.

One thing I was specifically worried about was whether the film would be able to manage without Marta, who was the beating heart of the original film. Glass Onion has its own beating heart; it takes longer to get to the equivalent of the moment in Knives Out where Marta took centre stage, but it's absolutely worth the wait.

(And one of the reasons I'm looking forward to watching Glass Onion again is to see all the moments before that point that I didn't know I was seeing the first time through.)

We watched Knives Out at the Rooftop Movies first off, a while ago. Then we re-watched it on Christmas Eve, with possbert. Then we watched it again last night, with my Mum, in preparation to seeing Glass Onion with them together.

I must say it was really good to see it again and then repeat, because it's eminently re-watchable, and also, as you say, all those moments that you didn't know you were seeing the first time through.

I'm inclined to agree that it's excellent. And the billionaire's choice of decoration all the more amusing to anyone who's seen City of Death.

I may have to find someone who has Netflix to see it. I refuse to get yet another streaming service for one movie.

Yes, indeed.

The other thing that's amusing about that is that in the close-ups, especially the one right near the end, it looks very much like the painting is on canvas, whereas in real life it was painted directly onto a wooden backboard. Which offers two possibilities: either this is one of those cases where a fictional universe just happens to be slightly different from reality -- or the person who the billionaire paid much money to let him have the painting still didn't trust him with the real thing.

That's how I did it -- I have a local friend who lets me watch at their place on the odd occasion when there's something on Netflix I particularly want to see (and vice versa with the streaming service I do have).

I literally just clocked that the character's name is actually Bron. Exqvisite, qvite exqvisite.

Looks like the picture being a fake in-universe was the original intention.
