I've always been convinced that song must have been written out of Cole Porter's own experience on stage - it just feels autobiographical. (That was someone who knew what it was like to rush on an ever-accelerating slope towards an immutable deadline...)

Although "Too Darn Hot" has been coming to mind locally at the moment, as well.
