Said to be who of the what now? That would have killed my interest in the book as well.

The name must have triggered a half-recollection about "Bell ... lecturer ... Sherlock Holmes!" and the writer then failed to take a few seconds to, oh, check what uni Conan Doyle went to. Sheesh.
