It took me a while to get into The Eyre Affair, although to be fair that might have been because I've taken so long to get to reading it that I'd already heard about all the major plot twists - the moment where it finally clicked was also from memory the first moment in the book that came as a real surprise. In the end, I enjoyed it well enough, but I'm not in any hurry to read it again, or anything else by the same author.
Hoodwinked, I liked. It wasn't much in the way of deep or subtle, but it was a lot of fun. (And unlike The Eyre Affair, I'm keeping an eye out for the sequel.)
