This is a surprisingly interesting exercise -- I'd never thought of comparing last lines of stories before!
Also, I like the idea of the king's movement being limited as a consequence of having a princess (pawn?) in his care... not sure it entirely works with the way that queens are made in chess, unless multiple princesses are going to go out and get risked on the battlefield in quest of promotion (and you can have two queens in play at once, anyway) but it's a neat description of the king's enforced 'domesticity'.
