. The Rep Club's production of Away went pretty well in the end. Audience numbers were a bit disappointing to start with, but that's often the case when we do a show that doesn't have wide name recognition; they picked up significantly toward the end of the run as word of mouth got around. (And it never came near the record for Worst Audience Ever in a Show I Was Involved With, which was a night we had exactly one person in the audience.)

. At gaming group this month, I played Love Letter, Skull Russian Roulette, and Dixit. "Russian Roulette" is an unofficial variant ruleset of Skull that one of the people at the group is working on, in which every player plays with their cards face down so that they have no more idea than their opponents which cards they're playing. He's still figuring out some of the balance issues this creates.

. On the computer, I have been playing Yoku's Island Express, a charming platformer in which you play as the new postmaster (and entire postal staff, apart from a grumpy parrot that perches at the main post office and takes messages) of a tropical island inhabited by a variety of strange creatures. Also, you're a small beetle, which makes things a bit more challenging for you than for the previous postmaster, who was a pterodactyl. There's a story thread, which starts with Yoku being sent to deliver messages to the island's leaders and ends up with a threat to the entire island, and a variety of side quests and exploration challenges. I've just finished the main plot (after about 10 hours of playing time, including a fair amount of time doing sidequests) and am still enjoying it enough to keep playing and see if I can polish off all the extra challenges.

. We've had the brass band AGM. In the weeks preceding it, I went back and forth a lot about whether I wanted to do another hitch on the committee, but in the end I decided to do another year as secretary, since it was obvious nobody else wanted to do it and I was just getting things working the way I liked them. I wouldn't have if the past year had been as stressful as the preceding few years had been, but we had a new committee member who had a significant improving effect on the committee dynamics and I'm reasonably confident the coming year will be okay too.

. I can't think of a fifth thing at the moment, but I'm not going to let that stop me posting.

Yay for good word of mouth - always a nice thing for a show.

I approve of this sentiment! Also I'm glad the theatricals went well - even if it was slow, word of mouth is a very satisfactory way to build up an audience.
