This evening, I bolted a novel in one sitting because it's way overdue at the library, and ended up with the mental equivalent of indigestion. I then spent an hour looking at photographs and movie clips of chimps performing in degrading outfits, and was much eased.


(Footnotes: The novel was Pig Tale by Verlyn Flieger, an intriguing and layered book that really didn't deserve such cavalier treatment. The chimp thing was research, I promise.)

What do you have against chimps?

It's for a play I'm going to be directing. The characters are chimps, and the stage directions specify that the actors are not to wear masks or anything, but have to rely on body language - and on being dressed in the kinds of clothes that performing chimps wear. So I was hunting up reference material for the costume designer.

May I humbly suggest for your research 'Lancelot Link: Secret Agent Chimp'. It's Get Smart meets Mr Ed if Mr Ed were a chimp.
And all the other people in the show were chimps as well.
And also part of a more appropriate comparison.
