More on the subject of things I had, then didn't, and now have again.

I grew up in a house with a piano, and most of the relatives we visited on holidays had pianos. The opportunity for random piano-noodling whenever the mood took me is something I've missed since I moved out on my own.

I now have a piano-like instrument of my very own. A friend saw it on sale and pointed it out. It is perhaps not quite what I'd have chosen if I'd set out to buy one, but the price was difficult to argue with.

Heh. Funnily enough, there was also a baby piano in the house when I was growing up, but if we ever had our photo taken together, I don't have a copy of it now.

(Technically, it was a dulcitone, a kind of 19th-century portable keyboard instrument. Synthesizers hadn't been invented yet, so it uses tuning forks.)
