I highly recommend "The Franchise Affair" (although I spent years wondering what the 'other case' that set the precedent was, only to discover that it was an unsolved eighteenth-century abduction case remembered only for its connection with Fielding the novelist... the protagonist of "The Franchise Affair" clearly being extremely well-read to have made the connection!)

What did you make of "The Sea Hawk"? I found it rather disappointing after having heard it lauded so highly for so long; no chemistry between hero and heroine, which doesn't help...
