According to IMDb, "Crazy" is episode 45 of 86 episodes of The Pretender (88 including the two TV movies), so I'm just over halfway through (re)watching the whole series in order.

I guess it's too late now to start thinking this might have made an interesting thing to blog about.

I can't start now. It's the third season, it'll be all "Man, the show used to be much better than this" and people (assuming anybody's reading) will go "Well, why are you watching it then?" and I'll be like "Because the first two seasons were much better, only you don't know that because I didn't blog them" and ...

What is it again that went on with Season Three? Is that when Lyle lost his thumb?

That was Season Two.

Season Three begins with Lyle being revealed as the long-lost brother one of the other characters never knew they had, and ends with the episode with the clone. And in between, if memory serves, there's the episode where Jarod becomes an organ thief (for real, not just pretending), and the episode where Jarod and Miss Parker both have near-death experiences where they encounter an old and dear friend who is not mentioned in any other episode.

(The latter is my least favourite episode of the series, because it's a microcosm of everything I don't like about the parts of the series I don't like. Ironically, it's the only episode that ever won an Emmy - fortunately for my equanimity, it was for Sound Design, which I'm prepared to admit the episode actually did well.)

I don't really remember most of that, except for the part about Lyle. That probably says a lot. I think Angelo also turned out to be someone's relative. Too bad they couldn't get Harve Presnell to do any singing like he did in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown".

As far as I can recall, Angelo is one of the few characters who managed to avoid getting sucked into the "Surprise! New relative!" quicksand. What you might be remembering is that for about an episode before it turned out to be Mr Lyle, they dangled the possibility that it might be Angelo who was the long-lost brother.
