Fics completed:
Five untitled ficlets. Two from prompts, one for a meme without a prompt, and two that just sort of happened.
Omega / Rose Tyler / insanity
"And in its narrow Eyes—"
"Lady Heterodyne," the guard reported...
a few words about one of Shakespeare's lesser-known plays
Professor Quinn's ship was a trim blue small-crew freighter...
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Less than I'd hoped, but about what I expected.
Where did you publish/archive your stories?
All of them were posted on LiveJournal. "Professor Quinn's ship" also got posted to the NaNoWriMo thread on Making Light. None of them have been archived in any of the usual places; they all struck me as too ephemeral to be worth it.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2011?
"a few words about one of Shakespeare's lesser-known plays" resulted from reading a quotes page while I had an iambic pentameter earworm. One of the reasons the piece is so short is that as it stands it already includes pretty much everything I know about the source work, which I haven't actually got around to seeing yet.
What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
Story that could have been better?
Sexiest story?
Most fun story?
Story with single sweetest moment?
The story that made you cry?
Hardest story to write?
Easiest story to write?
Can't be bothered answering any of these. Most of them fall into the category of "Overly Narrow Superlative", if not "Completely Inapplicable".
Most overdue story?
"'Lady Heterodyne,' the guard reported" showed up for several weeks late for Halloween, beating "a few words about one of Shakespeare's lesser-known plays", which was only a day late for April Fool's. The other completed stories didn't have deadlines or targets.
Among the uncompleted, there was a story I wanted to get done and published for Christmas. It should have been possible, but there always seemed to be something else that needed doing, to the point that I suspect my brain of active self-sabotage.
But if I'm allowing unfinished stories, I should note that all the stories that were unfinished this time last year are still unfinished now, though I did at least do a bit of work on many of them this year.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Not really. Maybe I should have taken more.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
It would be nice to finish something longer-than-ficlet, but I'm not expecting anything.
