A good list! I should think that the Northrup book will be interesting. Some years ago now, I read Olaudah Equiano's "The Interesting Narrative", which chronicles his time as a slave. A similar situation in some ways, as he was, for a time, owned by a British officer, which allowed him many freedoms. Then he was suddenly sold back to the plantations. An unsettling read, but unquestionably a worthwhile one.
