Somehow this slipped my mind when I was doing the Five Things post:

I've just started a new novel in my Liaden re-read project, which means it's time for a reminder that I'd always hoped other people might decide to read one or more of the novels along with me.

Particularly so since this one, Fledgling, is one of the designed jumping-on points for the series, and the e-book is available for free download from the publisher's website in a variety of formats.

How's it working for you?

I listened to the samples when the audiobooks came out, but I bounced off all the readers. (My brain can be very picky about who it's prepared to sit still and listen to for the length of an audiobook.)

Took a little getting used to (less mid-atlantic than I get on TV) but overall pretty good. Manages to convey character with voice pretty well.

I've tracked it down and may give it a try. Was slightly foozled by the heroine's name initially...
