I have boiled an egg. It came out quite well.

(And I don't just mean that, unlike the last cooking milestone I posted about, this time the saucepan survived.)

Hard or soft boiled?

Hard-boiled. I was given a half-dozen by a friend who keeps hens, and I wasn't sure how quickly I'd use them, so I decided to hard-boil them all on the assumption they'll keep longer that way.

(This of course means that I don't have the option of suddenly deciding to do an omelette or something instead, but that's hardly a compelling objection, since an omelette would also require that I own a frying pan.)

Eggs actually keep a reasonable amount of time. Especially in fridge. Do you know how to tell a good egg from a bad egg?

Get container of water. Put egg in. If it sinks to bottom is good. If it floats at top, is probably not so good.
