pedanther: (kingdom of loathing)

I've been aware of Kingdom of Loathing for a while, and kept telling myself that I should try it out some time. "Some time" turned out to be last night, and I now have a Level 2 pastamancer, a familiar named Gorgo, and a tent of my own with a certificate hanging in it announcing that I've completed the Toot Oriole Quest.

Also a birthday cake somebody gave me and asked me to help them light: apparently, it's got those special trick candles that relight themselves when they're blown out, but they need some kind of magical fire to get them lit to start with. (I wonder, if I manage to find the magical fire and return the cake, if I will later be approached by somebody seeking my help in getting their birthday candles to go out...)

My favourite of the various adventuring locations I've visited so far is the Spooky Forest, in which lurk various spooky monsters such as wolfmen, vampires (which, if you catch them at the right moment, can be persuaded to grant you an interview instead of attacking you), triffids, and bars (as in "kilt him a bar when he wuz only three"). There's also, if you wander through it long enough, a spooky giant monolith with a map inscribed on it ("Chiseled into it is what appears to be a map leading to a giant X. You get excited about the prospect of seeing the world's largest X, but then notice the legend at the bottom...") - which incidentally has the power of making anybody who approaches it feel a sudden urge to find a monkey and hit it with a bone.

Eventually, I decided to have one last Adventure and pack it in for the night. My last Adventure turned out to be an encounter with a Singing Tree, which sang a happy song that got me dancing and put a spring in my step. Which was a nice note to end on.

When considering a clan to join, keep The Underpriviledged in mind. OK, we're small, but we're stuffed full of Liaden fans :)

Er The Underprivileged. I blame my illness for my lack of ability to spell. Yeah.

Let me or Leece know your character name and we'll whitelist you. (Need to be careful of clan takeovers)

You will find yourself under a barrage of well-meaning buffs and useful objects when you next log on. Enjoy!

If you want to do things the hard way, by all means "shrug off" the buffs.

If you apply to the clan now you will be instantly accepted. The items in the Rumpus Room will not work until after rollover, which is about lunchtime our time. The meat orchid and the meat tree are particularly helpful when buying training in your Guild early on.

Hehheh...some people like to do things the hard way.

Let us know if you need buffing.

Clan tax rates are 122 Meat per day for those at level 1-5 and 244 for those above level five. As the meat plants give a goodly sum per day this is not onerous.
