1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook asked about these five icons:

(photo of Kermit the Frog that suddenly turns and smiles, revealing fangs)

The image is from the episode of The Muppet Show featuring Vincent Price. At one point, he and Kermit have a conversation about his work in horror films, which comes to an abrupt end when Kermit sprouts vampire fangs and goes for his throat. I had to settle for just the moment where Kermit reveals his fangs; much more and the icon would have ended up over the file size limit. I deliberately left a long static pause between cycles of the animation to try and catch people off-guard when Kermit moved.

(stick figure in an outlandish outfit, with a hat levitating nearby)

This is my character from the comical (and crudely-drawn) online roleplaying game Kingdom of Loathing. While I was still playing the game regularly, I updated the icon whenever the character's outfit changed, but it's been the same for a while now. (The character is never actually shown in the game; I assembled this picture out of the various component images.)

The levitating hat is not an item of clothing, but a Hovering Sombrero, one of the game's varieties of animal sidekick. The thing on the character's head is, despite appearances, a conical hat. (There's a reason that it and the two accessories, which are a vorpal sword and a magic whistle, are drawn as punctuation marks; it has something to do with Nethack, which I've never played.) The outfit is completed by a polka-dot bow tie (which provides a Moxie bonus) and a pair of demonskin trousers (which provide resistance against heat attacks). In KoL, the mysterious art of Wearing Shirts is something a character must go on a special quest to learn, and I never got that far into the game.

(the words "I have no icon for this")

This is my icon for things I have no icon for - yet. My plan was that I'd attach it to all the keywords I might reasonably have icons for someday, but don't yet, such as "star trek" and "discworld", then when I did add an icon for one of those keywords the icon would automatically appear everywhere I'd already used the keyword. I more or less gave up on the plan after LJ set a limit on how many keywords an icon could be attached to at once.

(cartoon Yoda with the caption "I have a bad feeling about this")

The image is from Star Wars: Clone Wars. Yoda is looking out the window at the beginning of the attack which is just ending as Revenge of the Sith begins. (The shadows on his face are from attacking aircraft zipping past.)

I don't know, there was just something about his expression that appealed to me.

This is from a set of images I started making then abandoned, of people whose hairstyle and clothing are so iconic that if you get those right when you're depicting them it doesn't really matter what the actual face is like. I had some vague idea, which never really gelled, of seeing how recognisable they were by their faces alone, without the iconic surroundings. I also did one of Albert Einstein, and started on Henry VIII, before I lost interest.

Aww, little lemony-face Yoda!

You have really fascinating icons. (Now I'm staring at the UFO one you used on this post. ^_^)

Oh, very interesting! You do have icons that you've put some thought to. (I do tend to just go, "Ooh, pretty!" quite a bit.)
