Season's greetings from Jay Smooth. "So instead of me telling you to have a Happy Holiday for the forty-leventh millionth time, I'd rather take a minute to acknowledge everyone out there who's not having a happy holiday."

M. S. Corley's 2010 Christmas card.

If the card makes you go "Who's that?", you may appreciate a couple of edifying videos courtesy of Michael Swanwick. (If the card makes you go "I know who that is", as [livejournal.com profile] capriuni for one will, you may appreciate the videos even more.)

Also from Michael Swanwick, a heartwarming Christmas story. "Though it's not really a story but an anecdote. Nor is it heartwarming, not really. Actually, it's kind of cynical. That's because every word of it is absolutely true."

Christmas is... interesting. Jonathan Coulton's musical tribute to classic Christmas tales, with running ASL translation (and awesome facial expressions) by Stephen Torrance. (via) Warnings: Occasional strong language, and if you're one of the people who's not having a happy holiday it might strike too close to the bone. Try Chiron Beta Prime instead; if you're having the kind of holiday where the idea of spending Christmas dealing with evil space robots strikes too close to the bone, you're probably past the point where funny songs in ASL can help.

Speaking of evil space robots and funny songs in ASL, this is not strictly seasonal, but what the hey: Tom Smith sings his fannish re-working of "The Cat Went Fiddle-I-Fee", with running ASL interpretation by Judi Miller. The difference between "translation" and "interpretation" that interpreting happens on the fly, and the interpreter doesn't know what's coming... (via)
